Our History
The Erie Basin Resource Conservation and Development Area was officially authorized by the Secretary of Agriculture, Orville Freeman in February of 1991. The County Commissioners and Soil and Water Conservation District boards of Ashland, Crawford, Erie, Huron, Ottawa, Richland, Sandusky, Seneca and Wyandot signed the application as sponsors. In March of 1999 Wood County joined the Erie Basin RC&D.
Erie Basin Resource Conservation and Development is a regional organization governed by a local body, covering ten counties in North Central Ohio. Erie Basin was formed to improve the environment and economy of the area. Erie Basin RC&D was incorporated by the State of Ohio and determined by the Internal Revenue Service to be a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 1992.
Erie Basin RC&D receives financial support from the USDA Rural Development, County Commissioners, Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisors, Economic Development Directors, and At Large Members.
